The Truth About Apples!
We can all admit that we adore apples. They're crunchy and sweet (or sour, if you prefer Granny Smith!) and a great on-the-go snack.
There is so much you can do with apples. Apple pie, apple strudel, baked apples, apple crisp, apple cinnamon muffins ... It's like they were designed to be baked with cinnamon.
From a Weight Watchers / healthy living standpoint, they're zero points (in moderation!) and the perfect snack when I'm craving something cold and sweet (goodbye diet coke, hello apples!). But did you know that they're loaded with many other health properties, too?
Apples are LoAdEd with nutritional goodies:
Pectin: this is a soluble fiber that helps lower cholesterol
Quercetin: this is a natural chemical that appears to reduce the risk of heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and prostate and lung cancers.
Fiber: there are approximately 4 grams of fiber in one medium-sized apple.
Vitamin C: Flu? Cold? Apple!
There are also lots of amazing things that just one apple a day can help with, like whitening your teeth, decreasing your risk of type 2 diabetes, preventing gallstones, beating constipation, detoxifying your liver and helping boost your immune system.
Not too shabby for a sweet treat, right?!
Two apples a day keeps the doctor away!
